SUCCESS magazine has been around since 1900... and I just now learned of it's existence. How can this be??! I'm reminder that surrounding myself with literature written by successful people and lifelong learners is a priority and that I lack mentors in my life currently.
I have a habit of reading magazines with a Sharpie by my side. While reading I jot down interesting articles and their page numbers on each cover for quick reference later. This is particularly helpful when trying to remember the new neighborhood boutique or restaurant I was interested in tryping.
Today I took time out to soak up some vitamin D and read my newly found magazine of interest. Instead of a Sharpie, I had a pen and spiral notebook at my side. I jotted down notes on topics ranging from Donald Trumps management style to words of advice from Abe Lincoln.
Keeping in mind that to be successful I need to stay current, continue to be a lifelong learner and remember that I might have to interview in a corporate setting I took these notes:
* Good management style: Leadership is about setting an example. Your people should be a reflection of aspects of yourself. (Donald Trump)
* Highly successful people think outside themselves (selflessly), have discovered their purpose and set attainable goals.
* Continue to work on a growth plan and grow intentionally.
* Read everything of interest to you. * Try not to over complicate things. * Sift through all the available information to arrive at sound clear cut decisions and then act on those choices. (Abraham Lincoln)
I also picked up a copy of the latest Rolling Stone. I bought it mostly for the cover- a simplistic statement. Nothing but an important face; void of plugs for musicians or the latest hot chick... just the next President of the United States.
